Young Volunteers’ ‘Domino Effect’ Film Launches

A hard-hitting film shot by teenage Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) volunteers and a BAFTA Award-winning producer has been released. Attended by staff and volunteers from CABs across Roxburgh, Berwickshire and the Borders, the premiere of The Domino Effect  took place at the Filmhouse in Hawick. The film depicts a young soldier’s downward spiral and eventual redemption, sparked by a visit to his local bureau. 

Overseen by filmmaker Martin Smith, the work is the culmination of Roxburgh and Berwickshire’s CABs’ hugely successful four-year YouthInfo Project. The project has seen 1200 young people contact bureau, raising over 4000 issues. It has enabled young people to gain access to over £213,000, as well as unearthing a team of teenage CAB volunteers. The Domino Effect  will now be shown in schools across the area and accompanied by a lesson pack.
