Thursday May 1st sees the launch of this year's Scams Awareness Month (SAM 2014). SAM 2014 is about the fight-back against scammers - giving consumers the information, skills and confidence to spot and stop scams
Throughout May, local information events are taking place across the CAB network in Scotland.
Scammers strike through a wide-range of methods and adapt to all situations and as technology changes. The same channels that make our lives easier - the internet, smart phones, doorstep deliveries - also provide short cuts for scammers. Each week throughout the month, SAM 2014 will focus on a different type of scam:
online scams – from Thursday 1 May
mail scams – week beginning 12 May
telephone scams – week beginning 19 May
doorstep scams – week beginning 26 May.
Citizens Advice Scotland has a dedicated Scams Awareness page, which contains information - including what to do if you feel you have been scammed - and campaign resources. The page can be found here:
Details of local activities will be published on the same page during SAM 2014.
