New Debt Action Forum Must 'Plug The Gaps' in the Current Schemes

13 Jan 2009

Citizens Advice Scotland have welcomed the Scottish Government's announcement of a new Debt Action Forum, but have urged that it must work to plug the gaps that exist between the current debt assistance schemes, and which are excluding many vulnerable people from getting help.

In a statement, CAS Chief Executive Kaliani Lyle said,

"We welcome this announcement and I’m pleased that we have been invited to attend the Forum. The rise in personal debt is a very worrying aspect of the current economic crisis, and it is good that the government is focusing on this as a priority.
