Citizens Advice Scotland has welcomed news that the UK government is planning a price cap on energy bills, announced in the Prime Minister's speech today.
Kate Morrison, Energy policy manager at Citizens Advice Scotland’s Consumers Futures Unit, says,
"It's no great surprise that the UK Government has felt the need to intervene in the energy market. Trust in the market is low and prices have continued to rise with a lack of transparency.
“This is a particular issue for Scottish consumers, given our cold wet climate and high fuel poverty rates. We would welcome any action that makes bills more affordable."
