CAS responds to doubling of energy complaints

Citizens Advice Scotland have responded to news that the number of complaints to the Energy Ombudsman has doubled in the first half of this year.

CAS spokesman Fraser Sutherland says,

"It has to be a concern that so many people are dissatisfied with their energy supplier. It's clear that energy companies have a lot more to do to provide customers with the level of service they expect - particularly as bills continue to rise.

"However the growth in the number of complaints also reflects a more confident consumer, and that is to be welcomed. The CAB service also welcomes enquiries from people who have concerns about their energy supplier, and we offer free impartial advice on issues like billing, switching and how to save energy. "We encourage all consumers to continue to speak up about their complaints, and to assert their rights as customers."
