Citizens Advice Scotland has responded to today’s report on Universal Credit by the House of Commons select committee on Work and Pensions.
CAS social affairs spokesperson Rob Gowans says,
“Scotland’s CAB network is seeing a growing number of people being moved onto Universal Credit who are struggling to cope with a sudden drop in income. Families with disabled children, single parents and people who previously received tax credits can be up to £90 per week worse off on the new benefit.
"We would urge the UK Government to make additional transitional payments to people being moved to Universal Credit now, to make sure no-one is worse off as a result of the change.”
