Our social security systems should be both a safety net and springboard that any of us can access at any point to support us through the challenges of life and help us move forward. It’s the financial protection provided for people to ensure access to income when it’s needed. Our evidence demonstrates that for far too many people, our social security system is not meeting the needs of those who access it, and key groups are experiencing real harm.

Working with both the Scottish and UK Governments, we present evidence and insight from our network to demonstrate the solutions that are needed to ensure people are treated with dignity, fairness and respect. That includes improving how social security is delivered, reducing the stigma attached to claiming and ensuring social security adequately meets everyone's needs.
