Get connected

With rising costs of everyday essentials, such as food, fuel and heating, more of us are struggling to afford bills like mobile and broadband, leading to increased digital exclusion.

This is why we're launching Get Connected, a local campaign for CABs, aiming to raise awareness about affordable internet and mobile options for those who need it most. If you are receiving some types of benefits, you might be able to get a cheaper internet or mobile deal from your provider.

Why it's worth asking your provider about these deals:

  • If your provider has cheaper deals for those on Universal Credit, you won’t have to pay to move to it.
  • You can also move at any time - you don’t have to wait until the end of your contract.
  • If your provider doesn't offer these deals, you can switch to another provider who does.
  • On average, this one simple change could save you around £200 per year.

You’ll need to check that:

  • You’re on the right benefits for these deals.
  • You’re the main account holder named on your contract.
  • The deal package covers all the services you need.

Your local CAB may also be able to support you to get a free SIM card with one years’ worth of data. Get in touch with your local CAB if you are:

  • 18+ and from a low-income household
  • And fit into one or more of the below criteria:
  • Have no access or insufficient access to the internet at home.
  • Have no or insufficient access to the internet when you’re away from the home .
  • Cannot afford your existing monthly contract or top up.
