Our strategy

Our values

Person centred: we are committed to the wellbeing of our clients, volunteers and staff and take a whole-person approach to our work.
Empowering: we invest in people and support them to take action on the challenges they face.
Supportive: we are caring and respectful and make sure that people receive the support they need to improve their lives.
Inclusive: we are non-judgemental, friendly and offer expert service to anyone who needs our help.
Collaborative: we work together as a network and with other partners in an open, respectful way, to build trust even when opinions differ.

Our vision

Advice, insight, people.
Changing lives - now and into the future.

Across 2025-2030 we will focus on three strategic delivery areas:

Advice that changes lives

We want everyone to have the advice they need to be able to realise their rights and to live with dignity
We will know we have been successful when:

  • Everyone who needs our advice and support can access it when they want it and how they want it.
  • Advice is available in local communities from advisers who truly understand what people are going through, and are dedicated to helping them
    find solutions.
  • Provision of advice across the network is agile, expert and inclusive, ensuring that people can realise their human rights and live with dignity.

Insight that changes lives

We want to use our evidence base and insight to tackle inequality and injustice that hold people back
We will know we have been successful when:

  • Our evidence and insight is indispensable to decisionmakers and wider stakeholders,
providing unparalleled understanding of our network and the people we serve.
  • The solutions and outcomes we advance are adopted by policymakers and decisionmakers, and as a result make people’s lives better.
  • The network is empowered to campaign and influence change at a local level.

People that change lives

We want CAS to be one of the best places to work in Scotland, and support the network to ensure that staff and volunteers can thrive; this will enable the delivery of better outcomes for the people and communities.
We will know we have been successful when:

  • The Citizens Advice network in Scotland is an environment where everyone is valued, inspired, and empowered to make a difference.
  • The network is inclusive and diverse – a place people want to engage with and be part of.
  • A pipeline of leaders exists across the network, ready to drive forward our purpose.
