More about the job

About the job

Peebles and District Citizens Advice Bureau and Central Borders Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) are local, voluntary advice agencies providing invaluable advice, information and support to the citizens of Peebles and Tweeddale, and the Galashiels area.  They are individual, independent charities in their own right, working in partnership and as part of a wider Citizens Advice Network in Scotland and a consortium of CABx in the Scottish Borders.

We believe that every citizen should have access to free, impartial and confidential advice that helps them make informed decisions, whenever they need it and however they choose to access it.

We have an exciting opportunity for either one full time or two part-time, dynamic, highly organised, people.

This role is varied and interesting and provides a great opportunity to support a local organisation that works with some of the most vulnerable people in our community.  The role will develop a new project across the Scottish Borders, delivering advice and support to EU citizens at risk of missing the deadline to make an application to remain in the UK post-Brexit, and supporting applications for the EU Settlement Scheme.

Based in Peebles or Galashiels, some of your time will be spent in the Bureaux.  The role will also require travel across the Scottish Borders, and may include some home visiting with clients.  You will also be required to network with other service providers, organisations and forums.

The successful applicant(s) will be expected to build strong working relationships and develop referral networks from within local statutory and voluntary services and across the business community. The post holder will also be expected to develop training and promotional materials to ensure the service is well known across the Scottish Borders. You will have a good standard of education, high quality personal skills and the desire to improve lives.  Knowledge or experience in supporting the most vulnerable in society is advantageous as is previous experience in preparing and delivering training and presentations.
