Commission e-learning

CAS has partnered with a range of Scottish and UK organisations to produce high quality e-learning materials. If you do not have the skills and resources to develop your own e-learning in support of advice work, we may be able to help.

CAS e-learning is produced primarily to support our bureau advisers. But in addition, we have produced e-learning on commission or as part of partnership projects. Our focus in working with other agencies is to provide low cost e-learning for organisations with similar aims and objectives to Citizens Advice Scotland.

Specific contracts:

  • Money Advice Trust: CAS was contracted by the Money Advice Trust to produce a number of e-learning modules for money advisers. These modules, which include topics covering money advice options, diligence, mortgage repossession and insolvency, were produced in collaboration with Money Advice Scotland. They are available to people both within and outside the CAB Service, through the ‘wiseradviser’ website (www.wiseradviser.org).
  • Consumer Focus Scotland: CAS was contracted by Consumer Focus Scotland to produce an e-learning module that looked at the range of options available to people who want to reduce their energy costs, including the switching of energy supplier. The module is available to people both within and outside the CAB Service.
  • Health Professions Council: CAS was contracted by the Health Professions Council (HPC) to produce an e-learning module for CAB workers that looks at what the HPC can do if an individual has concerns about the abilities or conduct of a health professional.
  • Highland Deaf Communication Project: CAS was contracted by the Highland Deaf Communication Project to produce an e-learning module on deaf awareness for frontline advisers and other service providers. .
  • Samaritans: CAS was contracted by the Samaritans to produce an e-learning module on suicide awareness.

Project-funded e-learning:

  • Armed Services Advice Project (various funders): As part of this national project, CAS worked with Poppyscotland to produce two e-learning modules. The first, aimed at CAB workers, provides an overview of the Armed Services Advice Project. The second module, available to people both within and outside the CAB Service, introduces people who provide frontline advice to the particular requirements of the Armed Forces Community and routes to assistance (including how to access the Armed Forces Advice Project) through the use of case studies and exercises.
  • Kinship Care Project (Scottish Government-funded): As part of this national project, CAS developed two e-learning modules relating to kinship care for CAB advisers. The modules provide an introduction to kinship care, a summary of the steps that an adviser needs to take in order to advise a client who is a kinship carer, and an overview of the impact of any local authority allowances on benefits that a kinship carer may be entitled to.
  • Independent Advice and Support Service Project (Scottish Government-funded): As part of the national IASS Project (now replaced by the Patient Advice and Support Service), CAS developed four e-learning modules for CAB advisers relating to IASS. The modules look at what the IASS project involves, the NHS complaints process, and the importance of statistical recording of health-related enquiries. In addition, a module about IASS was developed and made available to health professionals across Scotland through the equality and health website (www.equalityinhealth.scot.nhs.uk/home.aspx).
