We are currently recruiting for the post of Armed Services Advice Project Volunteer Development Officer, on a fixed term basis until 31 July 2020.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a Scotland wide initiative reaching out to veterans aged 65 and over, through supporting Citizens Advice Bureaux in the recruitment and training of volunteers to work with this client group.
Citizens Advice Scotland is one of 14 partners in the Aged Veterans Fund Unforgotten Forces Programme that will deliver a range of new services and enhancements in areas including advice, access to healthcare, social isolation, respite, along with creative activities and events for those in care settings.
The Volunteer Development Officer will work closely with the Armed Services Advice Project and assist bureaux with the recruitment, training and support of volunteers specifically to support veterans aged 65 and over. Work with other organisations, especially those in the Unforgotten Forces Programme, will also be required.
As the role supports bureaux throughout Scotland, considerable travel, and the ability for occasional work outside normal business hours, will be required.
We are looking for an experienced trainer who is able to engage with and provide support to bureaux in recruiting and training volunteers, and to design and deliver training sessions through appropriate media.
To fulfil the role effectively, in addition to proven training skills, you will have knowledge of advice work and experience of working with a wide range of organisations to develop effective relationships. Knowledge and experience of the Armed Forces community and the voluntary sector would be advantageous.
