The Citizens Advice network in Scotland is the largest independent advice service in the country. Citizens Advice Scotland is a charity within this network – we act as a national organisation supporting and representing the service as a whole and the interests of citizens. At the heart of the network there are 59 individual citizens advice bureau across Scotland, all operating as independent charities in their own right, which focus on providing support and advice directly to clients. Each of these organisations is a member of Citizens Advice Scotland. We believe that every citizen should have access to free, impartial and confidential advice that helps them make informed decisions, whenever they need it and however, they choose to access it.

Our vision is for a Fairer Scotland where everyone has the advice and information they need to realise their rights, and that the barriers to accessing those rights are effectively challenged.

This post sits within the Network Services Team, part of the wider Advice Services division.  Network Services is a small inspirational team at Citizens Advice Scotland that provides advice and support to Trustees and Managers across the bureaux Network about strategic and operational matters. We cover a range of subjects from board induction to safeguarding and everything in between, attend board meetings, support with business plans and innovation and direct bureaux where needed to Citizens Advice Scotland colleagues for other areas of bureaux work.

The Volunteer Support Manager is an exciting new role and provides a fabulous opportunity to be part of a team that makes a real difference to people’s lives every day, enabling local communities to be part of a community service.

Overall, you will be responsible for managing a small team and continue to drive our vision of being a volunteer led Network. You will have responsibility for the overall management, development, implementation, and monitoring of a volunteer strategy that supports the CAB Network to recruit, retain and support diverse volunteers and diverse volunteer roles. You will build and expand a sustainable volunteer framework using an inclusive and collaborative approach with our Network of bureaux, Citizens Advice Scotland colleagues and through engaging and networking with external partners.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of supporting Scotland’s largest independent advice network and to make an invaluable contribution to citizens lives.
