More about the job

About the job

Renfrewshire Citizens Advice (CAB) was formed in 1979 to provide a holistic advice service to the residents of Renfrewshire. As a member of the Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux network, Renfrewshire CAB aims to provide free, independent, impartial, and confidential advice and information to ensure that people understand their rights and responsibilities and can express their needs effectively.  We campaign and influence to tackle the root cause of the problems people face and work to strengthen their rights.

Renfrewshire CAB's office is located in Paisley; we are supported by 36 members of staff and 50 Volunteers including board members. The Bureau supports individuals with a wide range of general enquiries whilst project staff provide specialist support on topics including benefits, debt, utilities and money matters.

We’re looking for people who are keen to make a positive impact in their local community by joining our Board of Trustees. We’d love to hear from you if you have expertise in HR, Communications, Governance, and Public and Third Sector organisations. But even if you don’t it’s more important that you’re a team player with big-picture thinking, good judgement, and a dedication to giving back and helping our organisation thrive.

It’s an exciting time to join our organisation as we gear up to enhance and expand our services to meet the evolving needs of our community. Your ideas, skills, and enthusiasm could really shape how we tackle these challenges and make a real difference.

Applicants will have the experience and skills to ensure that the charity continues to develop and provide high-quality long-term services. As a Trustee, you will help ensure the good governance of the organisation which will involve attendance at bi-monthly board meetings and an annual AGM, alongside, where your time allows, participation in working project groups and sub-committees.

How to apply

We welcome applications from across the community and are committed to equal opportunities.  If you feel you would like to get involved and make a difference in your local community, please download an application form via the link at the bottom of this page or get in touch for a confidential informal discussion on what is involved. To be eligible to apply we ask that you live, work or have a significant connection with Renfrewshire.
