More about the job

About the job

Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our staff team as our Helping Hand Money Advice Buddy.

This is an exciting new post with Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau. We believe strongly in making a difference for our clients. Our aim is to ensure that no one suffers through lack of knowledge of their rights and entitlements and that equally through social policy action we strive to make long lasting changes for everyone.

The post holder will contribute to this through providing direct support and help to money advice clients on their money advice journey, particularly those who may have issues engaging fully due to their individual circumstances. The Buddy will be a key person for them to contact and assist them to progress their case and should be prepared to be flexible on their hours of work which could include some evenings and weekend time to benefit clients.

This is not a complex advice giving post which is reflected in the salary level, although the candidate will be expected to have knowledge and understanding of the money advice process. The aim of this post is to be a key contact and support person for clients. Working closely with our other staff and money advisers the post holder will establish why a case may not be progressing due to the need for information or responses from clients or creditors and step in to give a helping hand. It is essential that the candidate has excellent communication skills as well as patience and understanding and is sensitive to the needs of our clients and works hard to find solutions to problems.

The post holder will be need to have proficient IT skills and be able to use website and digital tools to assist clients online as well as face to face when permitted.

Parkhead CAB prides itself on recruiting staff who want to make a positive difference to the lives of those around them. Our priority is to make a welcoming and trusted environment for clients and an enjoyable work place for our staff and volunteers. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in then we would love to hear from you.

Due to current Covid restrictions interviews will be held via secure Zoom or MS Teams.

We are currently providing advice services via remote access and safe face to face for emergency vulnerable clients only. The post holder should expect to be office and home based. Post Covid we expect to continue a blend of remote and office working and we will continue our commitment to flexible working for the benefit of our clients and employees. Some of our flexible options have included working with our staff around school start and finish times to enable those with caring commitments to take up employment.

Parkhead CAB strives to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.  Please note this post will be subject to a satisfactory basic disclosure check.  This will also be reviewed at appropriate intervals as detailed in the bureau Recruitment safeguarding policy.
