More about the job

About the job

Citizens Advice and Rights Fife (CARF) is Fife’s leading independent advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people for over 25 years. We are delighted to be recruiting for the role of Adviser in our busy Client Representation Unit, the part of CARF which deals with tribunal representation.

The successful applicant will work within an established team, giving advice and support on issues relating to benefit decisions, primarily with a view to resolving such disputes at the earliest possible stage. Where enquiries are more complex it may be necessary to provide in-depth submissions regarding the appeal and potentially represent clients at tribunals, as necessary.

To be effective in this role you will require exceptional communication skills both written and verbal. As with all roles in CARF you should have a desire to improve lives, particularly the lives of vulnerable individuals who may face social inequality. Experience of working in an advice giving capacity and/or a knowledge or interest in the social security system would be advantageous.

You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively, whilst always mindful of the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Bureau and CARF. The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as supporting and delivering on CARF’s vision and values.
