Being Young Being Heard: young people and housing

This briefing from our series on the problems facing young people in Scotland looks at housing issues.

CAS' report, Being Young Being Heard, outlines the impact of the recession on young people in Scotland in their own words. The report shows that the effect of the recession has been that too many young people have become trapped in unemployment; in low paying unsatisfying jobs; in expensive private lets; on benefits that keep them afloat but don’t give them a leg up; and ultimately in a place where their potential is going to waste.

This briefing details many of the housing issues that young people face in Scotland, including high house prices, expensive private lets, a lack of affordable housing, and subsequent homelessness problems.
