Friend or family member
When advice is being sought for a friend or family member and the person is not present. To ensure confidentiality is maintained the CAB is limited in the advice they can provide. If continued advice is required, a friend or family member can only receive advice specific to another person situation, when the CAB has received authorisation to do so. The adviser dealing with your enquiry will advise you of the procedure to follow. Where you hold a ‘Power of Attorney’ the adviser will ask to see the documentation. If there is no certificate only limited general advice can be given, until the certificate has been confirmed.
External organisation
Where you are an organisation providing support to a person and you require advice from the CAB to progress their case, without them being present. Authorisation is required to progress with the enquiry and until authorisation is in place, only limited general advice can be given. The adviser dealing with your enquiry will advise you of the procedure to follow.
