The bureau invites applicants for a Volunteer Receptionist post currently required for whole days on Mondays & Fridays only to staff our “Drop-in” service.

Applicants should possess experience within the Voluntary sector, good communication skills & a calm, pleasant, confident manner. Experience of dealing with the public is essential.

Specific requirements of the work are as follows:

  • Meet & greet clients at the door when doors open to the public.
  • Take client details & assign queue numbers.
  • Locate files if appropriate.
  • Explain CAB operating systems to waiting clients (eg, likely waiting times, current adviser resources, etc.)
  • Offer alternative assistance for clients if they are not able to wait.
  • Keep advisers appraised of numbers of clients waiting, waiting times experienced & availability of interview rooms.
  • Book appointments where necessary.
  • Handle occasional potentially difficult clients with tact.

Travelling expenses are available for volunteer staff.  Opening Hours are 09.00AM – 17.00 PM. Reception will allow clients entry at 09.00 AM.
