More about the job

About the job

This is a great opportunity to play a vital role in an influential organisation that campaigns for a fairer Scotland where people are empowered and their rights respected.

Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) based in Edinburgh, is the umbrella organisation providing support to Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) across Scotland.  The Citizen Advice service helps hundreds of thousands of people resolve their problems each year by providing information and advice, and by influencing policymakers.

The role of the Policy Manager is to be the strategic lead for a particular policy area, in this case Financial Health, and to manage the rest of the Financial Health policy team and its activities. This will involve setting the strategic direction and policy position of work around financial health, with a focus on influencing policy on financial capability, income maximisation and problem debt.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in a similar role at a management level, and be able to use this to generate and lead on policy positions and advocacy strategies in Financial Health.  They will therefore need to have a strong working knowledge of the policy areas around financial health, including financial capability, income maximisation and problem debt and the ability to translate these into the appropriate strategic direction for CAS.  Stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills at a senior level will be essential.

In order to be successful the post holder will have an understanding of the policy making process at local, Scottish and UK government level and experience of working in partnership with organisations with common concerns.
