About the job

We will work in partnership with the charity Families Outside, CABx, HMP Addiewell and other organisations working closely with Lanarkshire Community Justice Authority.

This project will provide this vulnerable client base with holistic, generalist advice, debt advice as well as ongoing financial capability support before the admission to prison preparing families for a change of circumstances, during family and prisoner induction as part of admission, during the sentence served and after the release.

Key objectives of the project will be to: connect low income families affected by imprisonment to appropriate help; carry out preventative work to avoid future debt problems; empower families to make informed choices about their finances and build lasting and effective working relationships with local partners.

This project will employ two full time Regional Money Advisers/Income Maximisers and a part time Project Coordinator.

The project coordinator will be the first point of contact for the project.  They will manage the appointments system; provide a full and effective administrative service to the advice staff as well as coordination of all outreach activity. They will also have a responsibility for promoting the project and producing reports. Applicants will have excellent administrative, organizational and communication skills, excellent working knowledge of computer applications within a Microsoft environment – word processing, e-mail, data base, spreadsheets, access, diary. Minute taking experience is advantageous as well as is experience in organising and co-ordinating rotas.
