Extra Help Unit awards success

Many congratulations to colleagues from the Extra Help Unit who were winners and shortlistees at this year's Young Energy Professionals Awards which took place in London last week,

George Holmes (centre left) was announced as the winner of  the Energy UK’s Young Energy Professionals Consumer Champion Award 2022 and Brian MacRae was shortlisted for the Energy UK Young Energy Professionals Audrey Gallacher Award for Excellence, which recognises success without taking an academic route.

George joined the Extra Help Unit in 2010 as a Caseworker before progressing to a Team Manager.  After a stint with the CAS IT Team, he returned to the EHU in 2021 to take up a new role as Operations Manager, where he has been heavily involved in helping design and implement Dynamics 365, a new case management system for the EHU at a time when demand on services has never been higher.  He was also part of the project team which helped the EHU achieve the verification certificate for the BS 18477 Inclusive Service Provision, Requirements for identifying and responding to consumer vulnerability.

Brian joined the EHU in 2015 and in 2019 progressed to Quality Assurance Officer, where he developed the Quality Monitoring Programme to ensure excellent standards in complaint handling and importantly to ensure the Unit advocates effectively on behalf of vulnerable consumers; a constant challenge with ongoing market instability and the cost of living crisis. Brian also contributed to the project team which  achieved British Standard 18477 Inclusive Service Provision. He plays a role in the Unit's customer satisfaction research and shares all the positive feedback with the team is always genuinely keen to provide support to Caseworkers and Managers.

I am thrilled that members of the EHU team have been recognised in this way. George thoroughly deserves this award and has worked tirelessly over the past year to ensure the EHU is providing a strong service to vulnerable consumers and his good nature and hands on approach allows him to work effectively with the team and stakeholders to deliver results. And being shortlisted for the Excellence Award is award is a fantastic achievement for Brian, and recognises the important contribution he makes to the overall service delivery of the EHU with such dedication and a hard working attitude.
