More about the job

About the job

The purpose of this role is to deliver welfare benefits advice and support to clients across Tweeddale, through the various stages of applying for UK and Scottish Social Security welfare benefits.  The post holder will be required to have a good understanding of all welfare benefits, and will deliver direct advice to clients, including preparation for appeals and representation at tribunals. The post holder will also be required to undertake the appropriate research to support generalist advisers in dealing with more complex welfare benefits enquiries and to deliver in house Welfare Benefits training as required.

We are looking for a client-focused individual to deliver a holistic advice and support service, carry out face to face advice sessions with clients and undertake casework flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation, up to Upper Tribunal level.

Peebles and District Citizens Advice Bureau is also looking to recruit an Income Maximisation Adviser to fill a 14 hours/week position in the Warm and Well Borders Project (please see advertisement) and would be happy to consider applications from individuals who would be interested in a 28 hours/week position, combining both of these roles.
