More about the job
CAB to Careers (C2C) – North Lanarkshire Local Employability Partnership Grant
Motherwell & Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau (MWCAB) has secured funding to deliver a highly flexible, participant-led, employability programme; targeting the most vulnerable service users residing in the most deprived areas of Motherwell and Wishaw. The Employability Programme will target:
- Unemployed people with health conditions wishing to progress/return to work including those in recovery from addictions (all ages).
- Long term unemployed residents (all ages).
- Unemployed residents residing in 5% most deprived data zones (SIMD2020) (all ages)
Our ability to embed in grass-root organisations through community engagement, provides the standing stone to reach targeted individuals who are not yet engaging with any employability services. Individuals presenting at food banks, addiction services, community hubs, housing associations, those furthest away from employment market, who also face multiple barriers, stopping them from progressing.
Phase 1 of the programme will be a 4-week course covering Personal Development and Life Coaching, Empowering Functional Life Skills, Introduction to the world of work, preparing for Employment, Building Employability Skills and Responsibilities of Employment. All participants will receive an SQA approved Employability Award on completion.
Participants will be able to complete in-house vocational training and voluntary work incorporating work placements in the following areas:
- Adviser Training Programme
- Admin Training Programme
- SQA Introduction to First Aid
- SQA Mental Health and Wellbeing
- SQA Wellbeing
- Construction
- Train the trainer
- Vocational Route with a placement
The successful applicant will work closely with the Senior Training, Employability Officer and SVQ Coordinator and Volunteer Engagement Officer to deliver the 2-phase Employability Programme to individuals residing in the most deprived areas of Motherwell, Wishaw and Shotts, providing support to overcome barriers.
Applicants should have knowledge and experience of advice work, including welfare benefits, as well as training provision: training delivery, presentations, group work facilitation and evaluation.
