More about the job

About the job

Angus Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people.  We are a friendly and welcoming team made up of 12 paid staff and around 30 volunteers that offer generalist advice to clients alongside more specific projects. We are looking for a highly motivated person to join our Debt Team in the Bureau to lead the team, support our clients through formal debt options by carrying a client caseload and provide case-checking and mentoring/coaching to the other members of the team.

The successful candidate will have experience of supporting clients through formal debt options such as DAS and bankruptcy options and be knowledgeable of the systems in place for formal debt options. They will demonstrate excellent customer skills and have a commitment to equality and diversity. The successful candidate may not yet have supervisor or line management experience but will be able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting the other members of the Debt Team with their professional development and be keen to provide training, mentoring/coaching and case-checking to the other members of the team as we strive to provide high quality advice to our clients.

You will initially be based in our office in Arbroath, with some travel to our Forfar and Montrose offices expected in the near future. There is also the option for some home working. It is preferable if you can be flexible around working hours as we have been successfully trialling offering evening telephone appointments to clients who are unable to make appointments during the day and we wish to continue offering this. This role is currently funded to 31 March 2023, after which time we hope we will have secured further funding to keep the role in place for longer.
