More about the job

About the job

This is a great opportunity to play a vital role in an influential organisation that campaigns for a fairer Scotland where people are empowered and their rights respected.

Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) based in Edinburgh, is the umbrella organisation providing support to Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) across Scotland.  The Citizen Advice service helps hundreds of thousands of people resolve their problems each year by providing information and advice, and by influencing policymakers.

The role of the Policy team is to effect changes which improve people’s lives by influencing policy and decision makers in government, the public and private sectors, and the media.  This post will focus on influencing policy on financial capability, income maximisation and problem debt.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in policy, have good experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications or equivalent professional experience. Specifically, they will have a good knowledge of the policy areas around financial health, including financial capability, income maximisation and problem debt. They will also be able to analyse documents and data from a wide range of sources; produce effective submissions, reports and briefings; and communicate confidently with a variety of individuals and groups.

The successful candidate will build an understanding of the issues through analysing evidence, conducting research and monitoring policy developments, and use this to  make a measurable difference.

Finally they will have an understanding of the policy making process at local, Scottish and UK government level and experience of working in partnership with organisations with common concerns.
