Citizens Advice Scotland, based in Edinburgh, is the umbrella organisation providing support to Citizens Advice Bureaux across Scotland. Citizens Advice Scotland, our 60 member Citizen Advice Bureaux, the Citizen Advice consumer service, and the Extra Help Unit, form Scotland’s largest independent advice network. Advice provided by our service is free, independent, confidential, impartial and available to everyone.

About the role 

We are currently looking for a dynamic and driven Head of Communications to join our recently redesigned Impact Team. The role is offered on a fixed-term basis until the end of October 2019.

The impact team at Citizens Advice Scotland spans our research, policy development, advocacy, communications and campaigns and seeks to achieve positive change through two main routes:

  • Informing and empowering individuals to take action through information, education and campaigning

  • Changing policy, practice and law.

As Head of Communications, you will have responsibility for the delivery of communications, public affairs and campaigns activity supporting our social change programme across four areas of work. You will also be accountable for the Citizens Advice Scotland and Citizens Advice Bureaux brand in Scotland, overseeing the development of communications channels and supporting the Scottish Citizens Advice Bureaux network with its communications needs.

You will have significant experience working in communications and public affairs, managing and leading small teams or consultancies. You must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering impactful communications activity and experience of working in a strategic communications role, including experience of strategy development and delivery.
