More about the job

About the job

Angus Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people.  We are a friendly and welcoming team made up of 12 paid staff and around 30 volunteers that offer generalist advice to clients alongside more specific projects. We are looking for a highly motivated person to join our Debt Advice team in the Bureau, to support the Debt Adviser and Trainee Debt Adviser with their work. The role will involve being the first point of contact for clients seeking support with debt, collecting initial information and then supporting the team with the paperwork associated with debt cases.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in supporting clients as they work with the Debt Team to address their debts. The successful candidate should have great customer service skills and an interest in understanding more about debt advice. It would be advantageous if they have experience of doing benefit checks and/or a knowledge of the welfare benefits system, as part of the role will involve completing these with clients. More important is a willingness to learn and to support the Debt Team to continue achieving fantastic outcomes for clients.   We expect candidates to be self-motivated, have excellent teamwork, communication and organisational skills, be computer literate with a commitment to continuous improvement. They will understand the importance of excellent customer services and have a commitment to equality and diversity.

You will be based initially in our office in Arbroath, but there may be the need to travel to our Forfar and Montrose offices. This role is currently funded to 31st March 2022, after which time we hope we will have secured further funding to keep the role in place for longer.
