The In-Court Advice Project has been funded since 2004 to help party litigants raise and defend Simple Procedure actions (previously known as Small Claim Actions). We are looking for a client focused Caseworker with understanding of the Civil Justice System and a sound knowledge of Contract Law to work in the Tayside In-Court Advice Project based in Dundee Sheriff Court. Service provision will cover Dundee Perth and Forfar Sheriff Courts.

The role will involve support to the In-Court Adviser to assist unrepresented litigants through the civil court in Simple Procedure actions. The Caseworker will be responsible for managing a number of cases which will involve providing advice, information and assistance, with the emphasis on early resolution through negotiation to reach settlements for clients, both before and during court actions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant experience and/or knowledge of the Civil Justice system with proven ability to research in-depth legal matters. They will be able to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to draft written submissions and court documents and be able to advise clients on the merits of an action.
