Caseworkers offer advice and assistance via telephone, face to face (in-office and outreach) and via digital channels. Whilst the successful candidate will be able to provide advice and support on the full range of matters it is anticipated that many enquiries will be around the Cost of Living crisis and rising energy costs. The Caseworker will therefore have experience and understanding of the welfare benefits system, budgeting and money issues. The role will involve assessing the client’s situation, dealing promptly with any emergencies, and liaising with other bureau staff and external organisations to support the client as much as possible. The role will involve travel throughout West Dunbartonshire as well as attendance at meetings, events and training courses.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic team member with excellent interpersonal skills, the appropriate technical skills and a commitment to the work of the CAB service. Good organisational skills are essential, as is experience in welfare benefits and debt advice work and a knowledge of computer systems and their applications.
