Citizens Advice Scotland have said today’s increase in SSE energy bills will hit consumers hard, and is difficult to reconcile with the company’s recent rise in profits.
CAS Chief Executive Margaret Lynch says,
“This will be a real blow to people across the country, many of whom are already struggling with the rising cost of living. Fuel bills were already very high, so an increase like this is going to hit people hard – especially those on low incomes.
“It’s particularly disappointing that SSE have done this now, given that their profits went up earlier this year. Consumers will find it very hard to understand why they are being forced to pay even more to a company which is doing well.
“Anyone who wants to get expert advice on how to cut their energy costs can phone our consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06.”
