The Inspector of Funeral today published her Annual Report. This is based on her initial engagement with funeral directors across Scotland, exploring focusing on: culture, ethos and confidence in management; conveyance and care of the deceased; understanding, recording and acting on the wishes of the deceased or bereaved; asset management; and audit of procedures, practice and record keeping .
Ruth Mendel, policy officer for Citizens Advice Scotland said:
"We welcome the publication of this report and the time and attention which Natalie McKail and the Scottish Government have given to ensuring there are consistent standards across funeral directors in Scotland.
"We are particularly pleased to see discussion around a code of practice, to ensure standards are consistent whichever funeral director a consumer may choose to use, the recognition of the importance of providing advice and support to consumers at this difficult time, and the sharing of existing good practice."
