Guide to the rights of EU citizens after Brexit

9 Nov 2018

This new guide outlines what is known about the rights of EEA/EU citizens in Scotland now, during the transition period and after Brexit.

Many of the details about Brexit are still being worked out and agreed upon but this guide attempts to pull together what is known about how rights will or will not change. It has been produced by the Civil Society Brexit Project with JustRight Scotland.

The guide is made up of a series of factsheets covering rights to:

  • reside
  • work
  • benefits, housing and social work support
  • healthcare
  • vote
  • education

Each factsheet sets out what is known about EEA/EU citizens’ rights:

  • now (until 29 March 2019)
  • during the Brexit transition period (from 30 March 2019 to 31 December 2020)
  • after the transition period (after 1 January 2021)

The guide is free to download from https://hrcscotland.org/2018/10/25/guide-to-your-rights-for-eu-eea-citizens-in-scotland/

It is also being translated into other major European languages – contact hrcscotland@gmail.com if you would like more information about translated versions.
