Citizens Advice Scotland have backed new efforts to beat counterfeit crime, and have urged people to report fake goods or scams via the CAB service’s Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
The Scottish government has today launched a campaign highlighting the dangers of counterfeit scams, and their links to organised crime.
Citizens Advice Scotland’s Chief Executive Margaret Lynch says,
"We strongly support this campaign, and we have a very simple message today. If someone has sold you fake or shoddy goods or passed you counterfeit money, don’t let them get away with it. Report them, and get advice. Otherwise they’ll just go ahead and scam somebody else.
"The CAB service is always ready to stand up for consumers. In addition to all the other services we offer, we now have a national phoneline that is just for people who need help with consumer issues. So if you’ve been sold fake or shoddy goods or been exploited or scammed in any way, you can call us on 03454 04 05 06."
