Today heralds the beginning of a new doorstep crime campaign, timed to mark the start of National Consumer Week 2014. Good Neighbours Stop Rogue Traders aims to encourage neighbours, family, friends and carers to look out for those most at risk in their communities.
The UK-wide drive to spread the message of neighbourly help is being led by Citizens Advice England and Wales, CAS and their partners. In Scotland, these include Police Scotland, Neighbourhood Watch and COSLA. It follows on from widespread local work carried out by Citizens Advice Bureaux in Scotland during last May's Scams Awareness Month.
Tips for spotting when a neighbour is being preyed upon by rogue doorstep traders are being offered, as well as a number of actions which can be taken. All are listed on the campaign pages, along with printable campaign resources.
Earlier in the year, campaign partners Police Scotland made this video to highlight the threats of doorstep crime.
