Citizens Advice Scotland has welcomed the news that the Scottish government is to provide new help for people who use private water supplies.
CAS spokesman on markets, Jamie Stewart said,
“Around 196,000 people in Scotland are reliant on private water supplies. During periods of dry weather, supplies can become stretched and private water supplies can run out of water.
“The cost of topping up private water supplies can be expensive, especially when required to do so for a prolonged period. Additionally, for some vulnerable consumers, accessing alternative sources of supply can be difficult.
“We are pleased to see that this funding will be there to ensure that those reliant on private water supplies have water security when their own supplies are running low.”
