Responding to the UK government’s announcement of a new consumer champion for mobile and broadband customers, Citizens Advice Scotland’s Chief Executive Derek Mitchell said,
“We welcome the announcement of a new independent Consumer Advocate for the Telecoms sector. We have been calling for this initiative, and we hope that it will help protect and empower consumers against unfair treatment.
“The announcement recognises the effectiveness of current advocacy arrangements in the regulated industries, and specifically cites the role of our Extra Help Unit in supporting vulnerable consumers as an example of best practice.
“People who feel they have been treated unfairly in these or any other sectors can get free, confidential and impartial help from the Scottish Citizens Advice network. You can visit your own local CAB or access our service online.”
