Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) is encouraging people to submit a meter reading to their energy supplier today to ensure their information is up to date and they are charged the proper rate.
The energy price cap is set to increase by £693 on Friday 1 April, so Thursday is the last chance people have to ensure they are being charged properly before the new higher rates kick in.
CAS Energy Spokesperson Michael O’Brien said:
“With energy bills set to soar on Friday people should be submitting a meter reading to their supplier today to ensure they are being charged properly for energy they have used on the lower rates.
“The coming weeks and months are going to be a real challenge for people and every little helps.
“If people are struggling they can always seek advice. The Scottish CAB network is here for people during this cost of living crisis, with free, impartial and confidential advice. Last year we unlocked £147 million for people and can help you unlock extra money you may be entitled to.”
