Big Energy Saving Week is a major public information campaign, showing how people can take steps to cut their energy bills this winter. For more information, drop into your local Citizens Advice Bureau or check out the website www.bigenergysavingweek.org.uk Many bureaux are running special information events during the week and the website has an interactive map with details of timings and venues.
Citizens Advice Scotland has also launched a new DVD mini-feature to accompany the week.
CAS Chief Executive Margaret Lynch says:
“We know that one third of Scots are in fuel poverty, and many of the people CABs see every day are struggling with their gas and electricity bills. We can’t have that. Especially not when there are ways that people can actually cut their bills. The message is very simple. There are three practical steps anyone can take which will help you save money: Check, Switch and Insulate."
The details of how to do this are available at your local CAB, or at www.bigenergysavingweek.org.uk. There is also a special phoneline in Scotland: 0800 512 012 (free for landlines; from mobiles call 0300 456 2655 at local rate)
