Social Security Scotland’s School Age Payment opens for applications on 1 June 2020.
If you have a low income, you might be able to get a grant of £250 to help with the costs of having a child of school starting age. You’ll usually need to be getting benefits like Universal Credit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or tax credits.
Your child needs to have been born between 1 March 2015 and 29 February 2016 and they don’t actually need to be going to start school.
If you’ve decided to defer your child’s entry to Primary 1 until next year, you should still apply now. You have until 28 February 2021 to apply.
