About bureaux

Citizens advice bureaux have been providing advice and information to the Scottish public for over 70 years. Since they were first founded during the Second World War, Scottish bureaux have been delivering a free, confidential, impartial and independent service – and they still do to this day.

You may be surprised when you find out just how much your local bureau can do!

What bureaux do

Your local citizens advice bureau (CAB) can give free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and information on a wide range of subjects - just about anything, in fact!  We help our clients to take control and make decisions that will improve their lives.

The following short film highlights some of the many issues Citizens Advice Bureaux can help with

Giving the right advice

There are three ways that CAS helps bureaux make sure that they provide their clients with a professional service, every time.

Helping the whole community

Your local citizens advice bureau does a lot for its community - much more than might first meet the eye.

Our values and principles

The Scottish CAB Service is guided by 12 principles:

Bureau governance

Each citizens advice bureau is at the heart of its local community, and this is reflected in the way that bureaux are managed.
