Working in partnership
Both locally and nationally, the CAB service is at the heart of the community. CAS is actively developing relationships with all sorts of statutory, voluntary and commercial organisations to further the aims of the CAB service in Scotland.
You can tell a lot about an organisation by the company it keeps. Did you know about the following projects that CAS and bureaux are currently involved with?
- We work with Shelter Scotland to provide information and training to our member bureaux through the Scottish Homelessness Advisory Service (SHAS). Partly funded by Communities Scotland, SHAS provides expert advice where it's needed most
- We work with Money Advice Scotland (MAS) on the Money Advice, Training, Resource, Information and Consultancy Service (MATRICS) project, providing expert support to money advisers in the CAB service and beyond. The Scottish Government has funded MATRICS to improve the quality and quantity of money advice
- We work with the Pension Service in communities across Scotland to ensure pensioners have the advice and support they need to claim benefits, such as Pension Credit, to which they can be entitled
- In 2003, CAS helped to launch the National Minimum Wage Helpline, a joint project between CAS, the Scottish Low Pay Unit, the Inland Revenue's national minimum wage compliance unit and the Department of Trade and Industry
- CAS and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) have joint funded the development of a remote training and support mechanism for use by bureaux in the Highlands and Islands. This will expand training and learning opportunities for people in remote locations, benefiting both individuals and whole communities.
