More about the job

About the job

The Consumer Futures Unit of Citizens Advice Scotland is seeking 3 Ordinary Members to join a new Water Customer Forum which will play a key role in bringing customer’s views into the process of setting charges and levels of service for the water industry in the 2021-27 period. As a Member, you will be responsible for engaging directly with Scottish Water to ensure that customers get a fair deal for what they pay for water and sewerage services. The Forum will be an independent entity but will work closely with the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, the Consumer Futures Unit and Scottish Water in its day-to-day operations.

You will be required to work with the Chair of the Forum to establish a strong research and evidence base; act as a conduit on behalf of Scottish Water’s customers and communities; and provide insight and challenge on aspects of Scottish Water’s business management.

You should be able to demonstrate a strong interest in ensuring that customer’s views are fully represented in the ongoing development of the successful public sector model for water services in Scotland. Other important criteria are an ability to work effectively as part of a team, experience of committee working and decision making at a senior level; along with integrity, independence and sound judgement.  Desirable skills would include current knowledge and commitment to the interests of consumers and excellent communication, negotiation and mediation skills. A time commitment of up to fifty days per annum will be required, and members will be remunerated on that basis.
