Motherwell & Wishaw CAB has been providing quality information and advice to the local community since 1942. We are a forward thinking, innovative bureau and in addition to the Generalist Service we have developed a wide range of specialist projects to meet the needs of our local community. Last year we supported 3,400 clients with 30,000 complex issues in some of the most deprived communities in Scotland. We are at a crucial stage in both the sustainability and future development of our service and seek new Board Members to complement the existing team.

In particular Motherwell and Wishaw CAB is looking for individuals who have skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas:

 

  • Governance
  • Finance
  • Law
  • Project Management
  • Quality Assurance
  • Commercial funding
  • Business Planning
  • Advice Sector
  • Human Resources
  • Social Enterprise
  • Fundraising
  • PR and Marketing
  • Training
  • IT

 The role of the Board is:

  • To contribute to formulating and regularly reviewing      the values, strategic aims and performance standards of  Motherwell and Wishaw CAB
  • To actively contribute to the strategic operation of      the Motehrwell & Wishaw CAB.
  • To monitor the performance of Motherwell and Wishaw CAB.
  • To ensure that the organisation operates in and is      compliant with the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • To ensure the organisation is adequately resourced      to achieve its objectives and meet its obligations.
  • To ensure that risks are realistically assessed and      appropriately monitored and managed.
  • To ensure the highest standard of governance and conduct in the business of Motherwell and Wishaw CAB.

The Board meets at least five times per year. Directors are also requested to participate in various sub committees, working groups, the Annual General Meeting and additional events where appropriate.
