The recession might be over, but the impact goes on

Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) have said the figures on the recession are welcome, but warned that the impact on vulnerable people in Scotland will continue for some time.
CAS spokesman Matt Lancashire said,
“CAS are pleased to see the Scottish Economy has grown over the past quarter, but has serious concerns that unemployment has increased by 6000, leaving 208,000 people unemployed in Scotland.
“The impact of unemployment can have a serious impact on people’s lives. CAS evidence shows that unemployment can escalate many existing problems for people , such as, quickly fall into debt, losing their home and severe financial hardship.
“Citizen advice bureau in Scotland dealt with just under a million issues last year and due to the fallout of the recession are facing continued demand. It is imperative that funding for bureau across Scotland is sustained and increased to enable quality advice at the right time to people who need it the most.”
