Advocacy and influencing

How we engage with decision-makers and approach advocacy

All Scottish bureaux provide Citizens Advice Scotland with data and case evidence about the people that they see and the problems they experience. This evidence is always anonymised to make it impossible for individuals to be identified from it.

We use this evidence to work with politicians, civil servants and commercial organisations to change the way that rules and regulations work and improve the lives of everyone in Scotland.

Our strategy

We have committed to build upon the success of our evidence based approach to advocacy and influencing, by using our data to influence policy, practice and legislation and create better outcomes for people. We also develop ways of analysing our data to better understand what challenges may be ahead.

We are also committed to developing our strategic relationships with Government and service providers so that we are well positioned to put forward policy recommendations that emerge from our data.

We continually work closely with our CAB network to build capacity and capability so that they can undertake effective advocacy and influencing work within their own communities.

Read our data reports

Citizens Advice Scotland gathers information from Citizens Advice Bureaux and our online advice website. We use this to produce data reports to show demand for advice across our network.
