Members appointed to the water Customer Forum

The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) in collaboration with the Consumer Futures Unit (CFU) at Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) has announced its appointments to the Customer Forum for the Strategic Review of Charges 2021-27.

The Customer Forum appointments announced today follow the recent announcement of the signing of a Cooperation Agreement by the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, Scottish Water and Citizens Advice Scotland to establish the next Customer Forum for the forthcoming Strategic Review of Charges 2021-27.

Anne Lavery, the Acting Chief Executive of CAS, said: "The Customer Forum will place consumers and communities at the heart of developing Scottish Water’s business plan for 2021-27. It is an innovative and world-leading model, as the role of the OECD in evaluating the process demonstrates. We are pleased to have recruited such a capable team for the task ahead."

Douglas Millican, Chief Executive of Scottish Water said:

"The interests of our customers and communities are at the heart of what we do. We look forward to working with the Customer Forum to ensure that this remains the case in the years ahead."

On the appointment of the new Forum, Peter Peacock, Chair said: "We have assembled a very strong team of experienced people to make sure that the voice and interests of water customers remain at the heart of decisions to be taken on the future of Scotland’s water services. Our task now, is to gain a close understanding of customer views across Scotland to fully understand their needs and priorities. This will inform all that we do in engaging with Scottish Water to deliver the next generation of water services that Scotland needs."

Alan Sutherland, CEO of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, said "The Customer Forum must now work to reach an agreement with Scottish Water on charges and service level priorities that deliver best value for customers. Its agreement should fully reflect the final decisions taken by the Commission on the key inputs to the Strategic Review of Charges 2021-27."

Ten members have been appointed to the Forum. Alongside Peter Peacock as Chair, the following Members have been appointed: Agnes Robson; Andrew Faulk; Bob Wilson; Johanna Dow; Mairi Macleod; Rachel Bell; Stuart Housden; Sue Walker and Tom May.
