Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) is committed towards protecting the privacy of its website visitors and members. This privacy notice explains our online information practices and the various measures taken to protect your privacy and security.
Information Collection
The CAS website may collect information at various points, which are described below:
Registration In order to register with the website and gain access to the additional features and services, we require the following information:
- Username and Password: This information is collected so that we can differentiate members from non-members and thus provide access to the site as appropriate
- E-mail Address: This information is collected so that we can confirm registration and also send any requested communications. We will not send you marketing information unless you give us your explicit permission – see below
- Name; Organisation’s address – This information allows us to better understand our members and personalise our services.
- Subscriptions: This information is needed so we know what e-mail communications, if any, you wish to receive from us.
Query Form When contacting CAS, our query form requires that you provide the following information:
- Name; e-mail address: This is required so that we can reply personally to any queries.
Please note that CAS will not retain these details for information/marketing purposes unless you explicitly allow us to by registering for e-mail updates on our website.
Use of information In addition to the above uses, the CAS website also analyses the information acquired via the website to help understand how the site/services are being used thus allowing it to identify possible improvements etc.
Various statistics and information relating to the site are collected on a regular basis and these may occasionally be communicated to selected partner organisations e.g. X number of individuals visited a certain area of the website. In such a scenario, the information is presented in an ‘aggregate’ format i.e. no personal information is presented allowing individual identification.
In short, CAS will never provide your personal information to any outside parties, or use your personal information in ways unrelated to those described, without your prior confirmed consent.
Finally, we do not collect or process any personal data that is deemed ‘sensitive’ e.g. medical condition, racial or ethnic origin etc, other than the collection and processing of personal data as to racial or ethnic origin and/or disability as is necessary for the purpose of identifying or keeping under review the existence or absence of equality of opportunity or treatment between persons of different racial or ethnic backgrounds or persons of different physical or mental health or conditions.
