IASS caseworkers have a holistic approach to their clients. This contributes to health improvement, assists patients with self management of their condition and helps tackle health inequalities.

There are two aims of IASS:
1) To help clients access information and advice on issues that they regard as important to help them to maintain or improve their health and wellbeing.
2) To help clients identify and explore options about raising a concern or making a complaint when they are dissatisfied with aspects of their treatment or care provided to them by, or on behalf of, an NHS Board.
