IASS: healthcare concerns

Welcome to IASS

Welcome to the Independent Advice and Support Service - IASS.  IASS is part of the Scottish Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) Service and is funded by local National Health Service (NHS) Boards.

IASS: Supporting you with your health care concerns

IASS is available for anyone who uses the NHS and aims to support patients, their carers and families in their dealings with the NHS and in other matters affecting their health.  If a patient, their carer or family has any concerns about their care and treatment, they can raise these with the NHS.

You can receive a leaflet about IASS by contacting Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) or by downloading one.  This is also available in community languages for each Health Board and can be obtained by contacting CAS

IASS is a free, independent service that offers:

  • Advice and help on a range of issues that can have an impact on health such as housing, employment, benefits or money worries.
  • Assistance with identifying and exploring options to raise your concerns about NHS services.
  • Advice and support to use the NHS Complaints process.
  • Information and advice on how to access health and community services that offer additional support with your health care needs.

IASS aims to improve health and provide general advice and information for patients and their families.  It is also a valuable resource for frontline NHS staff offering a wide range of support in relation to health and health care.
